Dynamics of Father-Son Attachment: Exploring Communication Patterns and Influencing Factors

Abstract

his study explores how father-son communication patterns influence conflict resolution and independence in young men aged 18–25 years. Using a cross-sectional design with 30 father-son dyads who completed the Revised Family Communication Patterns (RFCP) Questionnaire, the findings indicate that open and honest communication strengthens emotional bonds, fosters autonomy, and mitigates interpersonal conflict. A significant inverse association (r = -0.5427, p < .01) between fathers’ conversation orientation and sons’ conformity indicates that open dialogue encourages self-expression. Additionally, active communication correlates with greater psychological resilience and emotional intelligence.
