Abstract

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental condition marked by difficulties in social interaction and communication and by repetitive behaviours, which affect a child’s socio-emotional growth and adjustment, especially in educational settings. Technologies such as artificial intelligence, virtual reality, mobile applications, wearable devices and robotics are increasingly used in educational and therapeutic settings to support children with ASD. This systematic literature review analyses the effectiveness and application of such interventions and their outcomes. Eight empirical studies were included, their characteristics were tabulated and major themes were analysed. The findings indicate that technological interventions provide a structured, engaging and adaptable learning setting suited to children with ASD, and that virtual reality and robotics offer immersive experiences that promote skill development.
