Abstract

The research paper explores the intricate relationship between emotional intelligence (EI) and sports anxiety among athletes, utilizing a mixed-methods approach. The study investigates the significance of emotional intelligence components, such as self-awareness, communication skills, and empathy, in individual and team dynamics. Additionally, it examines the impact of performance expectations on sports anxiety and evaluates the effectiveness of coping mechanisms. The research involves a diverse sample of athletes from various sports disciplines, combining quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews to provide a comprehensive understanding. Thematic analysis of qualitative data enriches the interpretation of quantitative measures, offering a nuanced perspective on athletes' experiences. The findings highlights the relevance of emotional intelligence in shaping athletes' emotional experiences and team dynamics. Performance expectations are identified as a key factor contributing to sports anxiety, with coping mechanisms such as mindfulness and positive self-talk emerging as effective strategies.
