The effect of Anger and Anxiety on Study Skills: A correlational study among students

Abstract

Study skill, i.e., the ability to know suitable strategies to study effectively, is important for Indian students to achieve their academic goals, however, factors such as anxiety, and anger, can create hinderance to achieve effective study skill. The current study focused on the effect of anger and anxiety on study skills among Indian youths. The study comprised of 42 randomly sampled participants between the age group of 18 to 25 years. Scales such as, GAD-7, Novaco Anger Inventory containing and, Study Skill Questionnaire, were used. The result found a significant positive correlation between anger and anxiety, significant negative correlation between anger and study skills, and significant negative correlation between anxiety and study skills. It is recommended that in order to achieve academic goals, institutions should offer anger and anxiety management education along with core courses.
