Abstract

Body image refers to our perception and view of our bodies, which can be positive or negative and significantly affect our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, as well as our self-esteem and personality. The objective of this research was to investigate how body image affects personality traits and self-esteem among college students aged between 18 to 24 years. A sample of 106 students (51 male and 55 female) was selected for this study. To gather the data, three questionnaires were used: The Body Self Image Questionnaire, Rosenberg self-esteem scale, and Big-five inventory. The collected data was analyzed using Correlation and Regression. The results showed that there was a weak correlation between body image and personality traits. However, there were significant positive correlations between self-esteem and personality, body image and personality. Further research is required.
