Abstract

The usage of the internet has transformed modern life, profoundly altering how we communicate, work, and access information. With the proliferation of smart phones, tablets, and interconnected devices, people are more interconnected than ever before. Psychological distress, characterized by symptoms like stress and sadness, is a concerning issue in this digital age. A study involving 30 young adults aged 18-21 explores the link between internet addiction and psychological distress, revealing a significant positive correlation. These findings underscore the harmful consequences of excessive internet usage on mental well-being. Targeted interventions aimed at addressing internet addiction are crucial for promoting healthier online behaviors among adolescents and safeguarding their psychological health in an increasingly digital landscape. By understanding this correlation, researchers can further develop more effective strategies for prevention and intervention, thereby offering better support systems to mitigate the negative impacts of internet addiction on adolescent mental health.
