Abstract

Empirical studies have demonstrated that there are psychological and physical advantages for humans when they are connected to nature. Commonly discussed advantages include improvements in well-being and affect. However, many of the existing studies in this field have made use of qualitative data, which may depend on the researchers' interpretation to a certain extent. With the goal of addressing the research gap and recognizing the advantages of nature connectedness. This study aimed to use quantitative data to determine the correlation between connectedness to nature and subjective happiness, as well as between connectedness to nature and resilience in individuals residing in India. 132 respondents were sampled using snowball sampling and were assessed using the Connectedness to Nature Scale (CNS), the Subjective Happiness Scale (SHS), and the Brief Resilience Scale (BRS). Pearson's product moment correlation was used to analyse and correlate the data. The findings revealed the existence of a positive correlation between connectedness to nature and subjective happiness as well as between connectedness to nature and resilience, significant at the 0.01 level of significance. In the future, further research should concentrate on developing a greater number of interventions based on nature and implementing them to benefit the wider community.
