A Study of Correlation between dimensions of Parental bonding, Personality types, and Emotional Intelligence among Young Adults

Abstract

The study explored the correlation between mother-father parental bonding dimensions, personality types, and emotional intelligence (EI) among young adults. It found positive links between parental care and traits such as openness, conscientiousness, and agreeableness, while a negative association was noted with neuroticism. Parental care enhanced global EI and wellbeing, while overprotection negatively impacted them. Strong correlations were found between agreeableness, openness, and EI dimensions. No significant differences between mother and father bonding were identified. Results suggest parental bonding can promote adaptive traits and that future research should examine causal mechanisms for improving well-being.
