ABSTRACT
Social anxiety can have an adverse effect on the life of young adults in every aspect. It can hinder their capability to uphold and make new connections with people. Social anxiety can lead to deteriorating physical health and behaviour impairments. Due to social anxiety an individual stays in isolation and avoids social interaction. Avoiding social interactions hinders an individual’s overall as man is a social being. As young adults are on the verge of pursuing their careers and entering intimate love relationships, social anxiety can stop them from pursuing their goals and desires. Self-efficacy refers to one’s belief in their ability to perform the tasks effectively to achieve the desired goals. High self-efficacy is positively linked to positive outcomes such as good grades, peaceful and happy relationships, and adoption of a healthy lifestyle. Self-efficacy is related to the level of competence in each situation. The research aimed to study the relationship of Self-Efficacy and Social Anxiety among young adults. Standardised tools were used to measure self-efficacy and social anxiety among young adults. A total sample of 100 (50 Males and 50 Females) was collected in the age 18-25 years. The results of the study found that higher is the self-efficacy in an individual i.e., belief in their ability to accomplish a task, lower is the social anxiety. This implies that accomplishment of tasks and goals instils confidence and makes a person outgoing. In addition to reducing a person's social anxiety, completing the duties makes them more confident and prouder of themselves, so they do not hesitate to speak or behave in a community setting.
