Abstract

This research investigates the impact of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) on the subjective well-being (SWB) and emotional regulation of young adults. The study aimed to examine the relationship between ACEs, emotional regulation difficulties, and SWB, with a focus on understanding the mediating role of emotional regulation. A sample of 150 young adults aged 18- 27 participated in the study, providing data on ACEs, emotional regulation, and SWB. Data were analyzed using correlation analyses and regression models. Results revealed significant associations between ACEs, emotional regulation difficulties, and SWB, supporting the hypothesis proposed. The findings underscore the importance of considering emotional regulation as a critical mechanism through which ACEs influence psychological well-being. These results have implications for the development of targeted interventions aimed at mitigating the impact of ACEs on individuals’ well-being.
