RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN LONELINESS AND INTERNET ADDICTION AMONG ADULTS

Abstract

The research was conducted to investigate the correlative relationship between Loneliness and Internet Addiction among Adults falling in the age group of 18 to 30 years. During the study non-probability Sampling was used to collect data from 100-110 adults by distributing a Google Form that included the Loneliness UCLA Scale by Daniel Russell, Letitia Peplau, and Cutrona, as well as the Internet Addiction Scale by Kimberly Young. Prior consent was obtained by having the participants fill out a Google form. The collected data was analyzed with the help of SPSS software and Pearson’s Correlation was performed. The correlation helped to understand the relationship between loneliness and internet addiction in adults. The study assumed that there will be a positive correlation between loneliness and internet addiction. The result of the research showed that there is a significant correlation at 0.01 level.
