Impact of exposure to Violence on Personality and Decision Making Styles

Abstract

Violence exposure in childhood or youth can have a big effect on how young adults form their personalities and make decisions. Standardized tests were used in this study to investigate these effects. The subjects had a modest amount of exposure to violence, stable ways of making decisions, and typical personality traits, as shown by descriptive data. Regression analysis showed that being exposed to violence had a big effect on personality development but not on how people made decisions. Additionally, there was a strong statistical link between young adults' exposure to violence and behavioral traits. These results show how important it is to understand how being exposed to violence affects people's minds. Violence exposure has a big effect on personality development, even if it doesn't change how people make decisions. To help people who have been through traumatic events, targeted approaches are important.
